Thank you for visiting our site. We hope you find it informative and interesting.

Our Mission

We understand that it is not possible to cover everything on an enormous subject like art. Our intention is to offer you an insight into what we love, hoping that it will bring you pleasure while discovering and appreciating Chinese arts.

We shall update this site from time to time with beautiful collections and interesting subjects. Do visit us regularly to check on new additions.

Our Plan

It has been 2 years since we first started in summer of 2003. In these 2 years, we have built 4 galleries to share with readers our valuable collections of calligraphy and painting from contemporary masters, a studio gallery to share the works of our studio artists and an online gallery with beautiful paintings for your selection. We also have a section on the development of Chinese scripts from 10,000 years ago with pictures and descriptions.

Readers may also realize that we have changed the layout of this site several times in the past 2 years trying to make it more user friendly.

Further additions that we are eagerly looking forward to add to the contents are "The Styles and Schools development of Chinese Painting", "The History of Seal Engraving" and more interesting subjects for our library, like "Chinese Stationery", "Interesting Places in China with calligraphic and painting development" etc.. We will try to find time to finish all these topics.

Acknowledgements

We would like to thank our good friend Mr. Sandy Tam who offers to share his collections through this web site, our calligraphy teacher Mr. Jat Sze Yiu, artist friends Messrs. Ip Hoi, Ng Bai Ru, Yung Shing Cho and Yung Ho Yin who agree to have their artworks published here.

We would also like to thank some of our friends who gave us very valuable suggestions for improvements. We shall try to incorporate whenever time is allowed.

About Us

The owner and web master of this site is a business executive specialized in the area of investment projects negotiation, manufacturing plants management and financial management for international corporations operating in Asian countries including China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan.

Upon returning to the United States after working 25 years in Asia, she decided to create a web site on Chinese arts, making it a convenient platform for sharing her passions in the treasures of China.

Our Calligraphy Associates

The owner and web master began her calligraphy lessons about 25 years ago in Hong Kong. Her teacher Mr. Jat See-yeu (翟 仕 堯), is a well-known artist in Chinese calligraphy and modern painting.

She is a member of the Jiazi Society of Calligraphy (甲 子 書 學 會) which was found in 1985 in Hong Kong by a few friends who practiced Chinese calligraphy. Jiazi has now grown into an interest group with more than 50 members, most of whom, have established recognition in the field. Jiazi's annual exhibitions in Hong Kong enjoy critical reviews.

Our Painting Associates

About 20 years ago, the owner and web master began to study Chinese Painting under Mr. Yang Shen-sum (楊 善 深), a renowned scholar of the "Ling Nam" (Southern China) School of Paintings (嶺 南 畫 派). She is a member of the Chun Fung (Spring Breeze) Arts Club (春 風 畫 會) which was found in 1970 by all the hundred plus students of Mr. Yang. Quite many of them are now well-known artists in Asian countries. Their annual exhibitions in Hong Kong are real treats for those who love Chinese paintings.

She had the opportunities to meet with many famous artists in China. One of whom who inspired me most was her good friend and teacher Mr. Chung Qi-xiang (宗 其 香). He was a well-known artist in Beijing and was a top student of Mr. Tsu Bei-hong (徐 悲 鴻), a distinguished painter.

She has also joint Chin Fung Tong Gallery (千 峰 堂 畫 廊), the International Artists Society (國 際 藝 術 家 協 會) of San Francisco as a member.

Once again we hope you enjoy our site. If you like it, we wish that you will recommend it to your family and friends.
