Food
- Use of Floral Preservatives
- When cut from the mother plant, a flower loses its source of nourishment;
therefore, food must be provided by the florist. Ask your florist if he has already put preservative in your floral arrangement.
- Floral preservatives contain a sugar base
that provides food to keep the flower's energy level high, as well as ingredients to inhibit bacteria. They also contain ingredients that lower the pH level therefore enhance the water uptake.
- The use of correct amount is vital.
Using less than the recommended amount can mean that a sugar base is added without enough ingredients to inhabit bacteria growth, leading to dirty water. Using more than the recommended amount may also cause negative effect of the same kind.
