Healthy Environment
- Air
- Flowers need clean and fresh air to support life-giving processes.
Pollutants, including gases such as ethylene, can inhibit life and cause damage.
- Do not put flowers in the refrigerator together with fruits and vegetables.
The ethylene produced by fruits and vegetables will shorten the life of the flowers significantly.
- What is ethylene?
Ethylene is an odorless, colorless gas that is produced by all plants, flowers and fruits. Damaged and dying plants produce more ethylene than the healthy ones. Ethylene will stimulate the aging process in flowers and will shorten vase life and cause premature death.
- Temperature
- Cut flowers last longer in cool temperature.
while warm temperature encourages growth and development. Excessively hot or cold temperature will cause damage.
- Do not put flowers near the Fire Place or in the heated room.
The heat and dry air will kill the flowers quickly.
